News!

Who would have thought that news would break so soon? One of my favorite up and comers Mick Jenkins has made a surprising move and signed with Cinematic Music Group, which hosts the likes of Smoke DZA, Joey Bada$$ and Pro Era, and none other than the Mighty Mouse of Meridian, Mississippi, Big K.R.I.T. himself. Unfortunately, there is little that is officially to be found on the indie (meaning independent) label. You can check out the Smoker’s Club website here to see more about CMG though.

The man is massively talented I say, though I didn’t know he was getting as much attention as he is. Mick still needs some time to prove himself imo, but it’s been said that he could be our generation’s (19-25 ish) Jay Elect. Those are big shoes to fill but in the meantime here’s a small article on the man and a pretty recent song he dropped off also.

Mick Jenkins, a representative from Chicago’s more conscious-minded sect, has announced his signing to Cinematic Music Group.
“Jonny Shipes is the only person that approached me offering to work for free,” he tells XXL exclusively. After growing and working together, as well as exploring other options, I’m happy to make the decision to partner with Cinematic Music Group. I’m making movies anyway.”

(Taken from XXL, read the rest here.)

The Water[s] is supposedly dropping August 12th through Cinematic.
