A Return For Us Both

Yesterday, which was Oct. 14th, marked several occasions. One being my father's birthday, which he so humbly turned 55. Another was of the 1 year mark since I saw Big K.RI.T. in concert in Indianapolis. The show was action packed, inspiring fighting, motivation, and a riotous and passionate crowd all happy to revel in the sounds of Justin Scott.

New Artist For You

I've personally never heard of AD  until today, but this track makes me want to learn more. In support of his mixtape Blue:89, he released this song a couple of days ago and my is it a heavy hitter.

For The History Month

You may have missed this is the wake of Drake's mixtape/album releasing the same day.

Cyhi The Prince is the pleasant shadow of G.O.O.D. music. He has yet to release a debut album, which may be limiting his recognition is many circles, but that hasn't prevented him from releasing quality music.

Allan Rayman

Courtesy of the Dope House, I've found another artist that has the potential to be pretty good. Allan Rayman, another Canadian, is coming to life right of Toronto. His voice reminds me a bit of Outasight, but the feel of the music is so much different. Mr. Rayman is making some real music here, and the visuals are dope.

Top EP’s of 2014

As all people who write about music do, I am writing a list of my favorite EP's of 2014. It’s difficult to listen to every single project that has been released, and I will be straight forward in saying that I haven’t.

I have however given considerable listen to many projects, and I will highlight my favorites. The listening period for this year is from December 25th, 2013-December 24th, 2014.

New Poetry, I Think?

I'm not sure how long this has truly been out, but as of yesterday I saw a piece of work out by poet Aja Monet. It's a mix of poetry, rap, and get this: it has also been scored with a variety of instruments per track.

The project is intriguing and I'm playing it over and over so I  grasp it fully. It's available on her Bandcamp for any price you want to name, so make sure you name at least $1.00 and check out scared to make love/scared not to below.

In The Sun

If you've heard of James Vincent McMorrow and James Blake, then you'll understand their style is cross genre filled with cryptic lyrics and hidden meanings. If you like them, then you're sure to like who would be their musical child together, Daniel Caesar. He's also done covers of their songs, go figure.

Mr. Caesar showed us his skill earlier in the year with his EP, Birds of Paradise with a lovely cover of James Blake's Scream. Now, in his most recent EP, Praise Break, Mr. Caesar drops off a fresh blend of R&B and other electro-synth-soul sounds for us all.

Violet is not only a great song, but the video gets better each time I watch. it. Check it below, and check out Praise Break underneath the video.

See Me On Top!

I'll keep it short.

Big K.R.I.T., in support of Cadillactica, has released a new mixtape. See Me On Top 4, is of course the 4th installment in the series that helped rise Krizzle to his seat in the rap game. Features include Fabolous, Yo Gotti, Alt-J, Rick Ross and others. Download below.

P.S.
Cadillactica is apparently coming on November 11th. Check it here.

Leather Corduroys

Kami and Joey Purp make up the group that is known as the Leather Corduroys. They belong to the Save Money Collective, with members like Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa. This spring they released an EP entitled Porno Music Volume II. I have yet to see a 'Volume I', but the 5 track Volume II was a very interesting listen.

The standout track on the EP for me in now my hype song, Ill Trill Vibes. Hopefully my brother DJ Sterlz will take a chance and put this on the party playlist. Check out the song below and if you enjoy it, check out their new song Her below that. Porno Music Volume II will be in the Read More section.

En lou of the deletion of Move That Dope from YouTube, Ejaaz has released a new project entitled Redux. It’s pronounced exactly how it’s spelled also. Anyway, check out 0 to 1k off of the project. The project in its entirety is available in the Read More section.

Playaa!

Projects take both time and dedication. Spewing lyrics is easy for some, and for some it's an art. My man Tricito has waiting a fairly lengthy amount of time to drop this project, but it has officially arrived and I present to you, The Hunger & Thirst 2. 17 tracks full of what is sure to be a good project.

To support the young man through financial means, check out the project on his BandCamp. For all you others check for the project below. Also enjoy the two singles off of the project, Proto Playaa and Rooftops to get your feet wet.

What's The Point In Trying

Courtesy of a blog that got discontinued around the time of the Golden Age of Internet Rap (2010), I stumbled into this song a few days ago. I've seen the name Coolroy a couple of times at the Dope House, but I never paid attention.

Here's the first Throwback Thursday track for you called Golden. Mellow and totally introspective, I completely related to the first 8 bars incredibly well. Coolroy is still making music, so go to the Read More section to check out some more of his recent work, including the throwback project that Golden was featured on.

Here's Some More Backtrack

One of my top artists that's slept on too heavily, Nickelus F aka Sweet Peety had a very busy year last year releasing 3 completely seperate mixtapes. He's probably taking some time to work on new material and master the production aspects of things, so I thought I'd drop off some of his work really quickly.

My favorite song off of his second mixtape PTPT is this track, Odds. The beat is impressively mellow, and there's actually a message in the song. Take a gander at the song below, and check out his mixtapes in the Read More section.

Check It Immediately

My site was not operational at the time this project, so I'm sure I'm going to have to do some backtracking for a few artists. My man EvO dropped a project at the top of the year in the great name of the place I call home. He's been working and this effort is a culmination of that hard work.

He dropped a video in anticipation of the project, so do yourself a favor and check this out first, then go to the Read More section to download I.N.D.Y.

We're Going...

A couple of weeks ago, the men of the L.A.M.E. Crew released their latest project, YOUniversal. I've yet to give a listen, but these young men have been putting on for Indianapolis for a while and slowly perfecting the craft of rhyme and production.  I'm sure this project is going to be a delight so make sure you follow these guys and check out the mixtape below.

Let's See Another One

There was a point in my life (I'd say around the end of my senior year, so 2011) that I adopted the philosophy "Life Without Shame." It means exactly what the quote is, to live life without shame or embarrassment. This mantra came directly from rapper Emilio Rojas.

His career has been an interesting one, especially with the looks from the Maybach Music Group. Anyway, here we are with his 2014 offering No F**** Given. It features Joe Budden, Nore, Harry Fraud, and others.

Trap Wiz is Free

Wiz Khalifa seems to be having some turbulent times knocking at his door. He was arrested for marijuana possession, but in spite of all the drama promised to release his latest offering 28 Grams upon release. Now he's free so let's see how 'Trap Wiz' attacks his latest body of work.

New Project!

I haven't featured many projects because none have really come out recently, but now that has finally changed. My brother from another city Reg Boom has released the first part of his two part mixtape finale.

Unfortunately, Reg is hanging up the mic to focus on other pursuits, and this lastest offering is his opus proving that he's exiting the rhyming with a bang. Enjoy, it's a treat and every track deserves it's listen.
